Nowadays, the corporate world is no longer just a case of offices and meetings, but also a digital battlefield. Professionals, who would never have imagined being in the sights, are now found targets of choice for cyber attacks.
Cybersecurity is no longer a simple subject of specialists, but an essential concern that concerns us all. With the growing digitization of our personal and professional lives, the protection of our data and our systems has become a major issue. Cyberattacks are constantly evolving, exploiting ever more complex flaws to circumvent our defenses. Faced with this constant threat, it is crucial to adopt good practices and remain vigilant to protect your information and private life.
Historically, the world of cybersecurity was associated with specific figures: ethical hackers, which test the solidity of systems for companies; Security analysts, which monitor the networks looking for intrusion signs; Or even safety architects, who design resilient digital infrastructure. These professionals play a crucial role in protecting the information systems of companies and governments against threats. However, the landscape of cyber attacks has transformed. These threats are no longer limited to large organizations or critical infrastructure, but more and more directly target individuals, in particular those who, by their profession, have sensitive information or occupy a strategic position. Digital security has thus become everyone’s business and requires increased vigilance, even on the part of those who are not experts in the matter.
The ANSSI, the French cybersecurity agency, published an alarming report this month, revealing that Apple had sent a new wave of warning notifications. This is the fourth campaign of this type, after those in March, April and June. These alerts indicate attacks by formidable spy software. “These software, such as Pegasus, Predator, Graphite or Triangulation are particularly sophisticated and difficult to detect,” said ANSSI.
The targeted profiles are very specific: “These complex attacks target individuals for their status or function: journalists, lawyers, activists, politicians, senior officials, members of management committees of strategic sectors”. Receiving an Apple notification means that at least “One of the apparatus related to the iCloud account has been targeted and would potentially be compromised”, Can we read in the press release. These attacks use unknown safety flaws of manufacturers and can infect a device without the victim needing to click on anything. Hence their dangerousness!
Faced with this growing threat, the ANSSI makes specific recommendations. In the event of receipt of an Apple notification, you must immediately contact the CERT-FR, the team of cybersecurity experts from the ANSSI, and above all “Avoid initiating changes to the equipment” which could compromise investigations. To protect itself on a daily basis, the agency advises to “Update equipment as quickly as possible”activate automatic updates and “Restart your device regularly, ideally once a day”. She also recommends “Partitioning personal and professional uses as much as possible, ideally using different devices” and activate the “Isolation fashion” On Apple devices. These measures become essential in the face of attacks which now target a wide range of professionals exposed by the very nature of their profession!
