Having flies in your home is not a good omen and even if you keep your house impeccably clean, you are surprised to see them proliferating in your home? It may be that you are unknowingly making this mistake which tends to attract flies.
For a good part of the year, we unfortunately have to deal with flies, whose presence is multiplied due to the still pleasant temperatures. These insects are irremediably attracted to rotting food, such as very ripe fruit, which is a common sight in many fruit baskets. And you should know that there is one thing to absolutely avoid in order not to attract even more flies to your home.
Flies are particularly fond of spoiled food, whether to gorge themselves on it copiously or to lay their eggs, which will turn into maggots and then midges. This is why it is essential to take a few precautions to avoid finding yourself invaded by flies at home. And there is one favorite place that flies are particularly fond of for feeding and laying eggs: the trash can. Indeed, whatever the model of your trash can, you should know that what it contains is a real El Dorado for flies. The mixture of peelings, leftover meat or dairy products is bait that flies cannot resist, especially if the door is wide open! You should therefore avoid leaving the trash can open for too long at all costs. And if your trash can closes badly, because it is not of very good quality or because you have not taken the time to empty it, watch out for damage. Not only will flies be attracted, but they will also be able to easily enter the trash can.
The solution is simple to avoid being infested with flies at home: you just need to close your trash can well after each use and especially to change the bag regularly to avoid bad smells. Even with a trash bag in place, liquids or crumbs can accumulate at the bottom of the container. Clean the inside of your trash can once a week with hot water and soap. As for the outside of your house, make sure to keep your bags well closed if you do not have a container, in order to avoid moving the problem outside while waiting for household waste collection.
Another common mistake is leaving dirty dishes in the sink for several hours or even overnight. Leftover food and moisture are a real feast for flies, who will not hesitate to settle there. Likewise, it is essential to clean countertops well and store food in airtight containers. Flies can detect tempting smells from miles away, even a simple residue of fruit juice or a stain of sauce can attract them in droves.
