56% of French people assume it: it is the being with whom they prefer to spend time, far ahead of their partner. Especially during stressful periods.
Mental health is increasingly mentioned today, and it is an excellent thing. Consulting a psychologist or a psychiatrist is no longer as stigmatized, just like taking treatments to get better. In addition to that, we are talking more and more about coping methods, that is to say things that allow stress and difficult situations to be faced. Not all will work on everyone, and you often have to try several techniques before finding the one that works for yourself.
Among those that come back often, there is the fact of doing breathing or meditation exercises, of practicing a sporting, manual or artistic activity, to listen to music … But some people also feel better when surrounded. When so, who do they prefer the company?
A study carried out by Yougov for Mars Petcare and Calm allows you to know more. And the majority decided: when stressed, 56 %of French people and French women prefer to spend time with their pet rather than their spouse (33 %), their families (25 %) or their friends (19 %), indicates this survey carried out among 31,299 people in the world (including 1526 in France) who have an animal. “When I am stressed, I feel better with my dog than with my spouse”confirms Géraldine.
Reality can be difficult to accept for the person whose partner prefers the presence of his pet when he is stressed. But it is also explained in a rational way. First of all, 83 % of all respondents indicate that their animal companion has a positive impact on their mental well-being. On the side of people living in France, 54 % believe that their animal improves their sleep.
In the same way, there are 59 % to explain that it helps them to get screens and, as we know, their use promotes stress, especially when it is excessive. Finally, a third party explains that their animal pushes them to take breaks in activities that promote stress (household chores, scroller on the internet, work …). Sleep well, take breaks and not use the screens too much are all factors that reduce this anxiety.
