The media 60 Millions de consommateurs has unveiled a test bench of several facial exfoliants. Among them, one reference stands out and it is from a French brand.
Facial exfoliants are an integral part of our skincare routine. Every week, we use them to remove dead skin, boost cell renewal and increase the effectiveness of the products we then apply (serums, creams, etc.). But obviously, faced with all the options available on the market, a question arises: which exfoliant should you turn to? In its January issue, the magazine 60 Millions de consommateurs looked into the question. In fact, the media screened seven references based on the following criteria: the Cosmeto’Score, that is to say the impact of the product on health and the environment, but also performance. The latter is based on the desquamation index, therefore the quantity of dead skin removed using a cotton pad, and the desquamation surface index, “the surface occupied by the cells on the disc area“, indicates the media. Finally, 60 Million consumers specify that they have tested the three types of exfoliants that exist on store shelves: mechanical (with grains), chemical (which remove dead skin using fruit acids) , and hybrids (which combine the two technologies. Each form has its advantages and disadvantages: used too vigorously, the first can create microlesions on the skin (because of the grains), while the second can damage it). be more irritating for the face.
During the magazine’s test bench, one reference stood out from the rest with a score of 17/20. The little extra? This is an iconic French brand! Yes, the first step of the podium goes to Rose Sugar Scrub from Lancôme thanks to “an almost flawless course“, underlines the media. It ranks first in terms of performance, and obtains a grade of A on the Cosmeto’Score.
The scrub is formulated without alcohol, paraben and silicone. Its jelly texture has a sweet rose scent and is enriched with sugar crystals and argan grains. The key? A more uniform, smooth complexion and deeply purified skin. The only downside according to 60 Million consumers: “the brand’s marketing around sugar which is not at all used to exfoliate.”
In second place in the ranking, we find Caudalie’s Exfoliating Scrub Cream with a score of 15.5/20, then Neutrogena’s Skin Detox (13.5/20). Then come references from Paula’s Choice, The Ordinary, Yves Rocher and Avène.
