For decades, King Charles has been carrying the same perfume. A fragrance created by a large French house that you undoubtedly know. Zoom.
The royal family of England pays particular attention to the perfumes carried by its members. For example, Kate Middleton is an unconditional of Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom scent, while Diana loved Van Cleef & Arpels very much. For his part, King Charles cracked for a juice of a large French house. Indeed, in his autobiography The substitute (Fayard editions) published in January 2023, Prince Harry sold the wick: “He smeared his cheeks, neck, shirt. A floral scent, with a more full-bodied underlying note such as pepper or cannon powder. This perfume came from Paris“, He explains about his father. A fragrance that the English king would appreciate even if it means putting a bit too much:”It was very difficult to perceive the slightest odor under its own perfume“, He continues.
Several years later, King Charles would still be also a fan of this perfume imagined by a large brand. His name? Dior wild water. If it is today a classic in the universe of male scents, when he left in 1966, he detonated compared to the other available fragrances. On a market hitherto dominated by very heavy, very virile cologne waters, wild water is a real freshness wind with its lively and flowery notes. A way to free yourself from the codes of masculinity of the time.
Created by the Nose Edmond Roudnitska (Eau d’Hermès, wife of Rochas …), the perfume opens on Hesperidaées scents, with lemon, bergamot, lavender, rosemary, thyme and basil. Then arrives at the heart, where we recognize jasmine. Then, very slowly, these agreements give way to the background notes: oak mousse, patchouli and vetiver come to form a fresh and pleasant wake.
Dior wild water is the very first male perfume of the house. A real small revolution in the olfactory landscape, but a successful bet high hand since decades later there remains a reference. At the simple evocation of this fragrance, it is impossible not to visualize the poster with Alain Delon. It is therefore not surprising that almost 60 years after its exit it remains one of the best -selling in the world, and obviously remains the favorite of King Charles.
