When you plan a day at an amusement park, and the rain comes… it’s a cold shower. To cope with the vagaries of the weather, this park now offers free returns another day if your visit has been spoiled.
The weather is the only element that we can never control when planning an outing or an event. And yet, this is often what can spoil the fun… Whether it’s when we get married outdoors, when we go away for a weekend or on vacation, or when we organize a family day in an amusement park, everyone agrees: we want the sun! Or at least, a relatively mild sky so as not to end up soaked by the rain, seeking shelter at all costs rather than taking full advantage of the activities we had planned.
In amusement parks, it’s even more painful: queuing underwater is not pleasant, not to mention the rides themselves, which can also be temporarily stopped if the downpours are too violent. And even so, the speed and force of the roller coaster are such that the rain ends up lashing your face… We could do without all these inconveniences, especially when we have paid for an entrance ticket! And some people have understood that well. A French leisure park has decided to implement an innovative formula: “rain insurance”, which gives you the right to return for free when your visit has been spoiled by mother nature.
La Mer de Sable, the oldest theme park in France where a Wild West atmosphere reigns, located in Oise, announced this new concept during its reopening this Saturday, April 11. A “rain insurance” option is now offered: it costs two euros per person, and allows you to receive an invitation to return on another date, without paying for a new entry. It only concerns dated tickets purchased online, and will be available on the La Mer de Sable website. “as soon as possible in the coming days”the park confirms to us.
The only condition is that more than 4 mm of rain fell during the park’s opening hours. In this case, no action is necessary, the park sends an email directly to the visitors concerned asking them to choose the date that suits them to come back and enjoy the attractions under the sun. Although the Oise is not among the rainiest departmentsprecipitation is still frequent there and these 4 mm are largely achievable, a light drizzle may be enough.
As its name suggests, this is insurance: those who have not taken it will therefore not be able to benefit from a new ticket. But this “rain” option can be particularly useful when you book in advance, and the weather forecast is not yet known. Especially since at the Mer de Sable, as in other amusement parks, shelters are rare and most attractions and shows take place outdoors. A good way for this park to reassure the most hesitant visitors. Moreover, the park itself tells us that “the dated ticket, with rain insurance, remains more advantageous than an undated ticket” in terms of price: count on 28 euros for children and 30 euros for adults with this option, compared to 27 and 32 euros by choosing an undated ticket, with no possibility of returning in the event of bad weather.
