While life expectancy continues to increase across the globe, there are countries in which growing old is more pleasant than others. By far! And this is confirmed by a new, very serious report.
According to the latest annual report of the World Happiness Reportgetting old is not pleasant in all countries of the world. And this is no surprise to anyone… However, there are indeed some Eldorados in which to retire to live a final chapter of your life in good conditions. So, whether you are about to end your career or you are simply anticipating things, open your ears wide. This ranking could be very useful to you… Especially if you were planning to live out your days happily in France as you get older.
French seniors… run away! Indeed, the observation is harsh for France. According to experts, our country is far from being a paradise for seniors. And that is an understatement. France actually only comes in 25th position in this top. Not surprisingly, the Nordic countries occupy the top spots in this ranking. Thus, Finland climbs to second place in the ranking, closely followed by Norway, Sweden and Iceland. We have to wait until the sixth step of the podium to find a country that stands out a little. And this nation is none other than another great in well-being and personal development: New Zealand.
This year again, it is Denmark that breaks all records and wins the Palme d’Or for the country where seniors are the happiest. Not surprising when you know that the nation – which is also one of the only ones that can boast of having a generally happy population – has taken measures that make life much easier for those over 60.
It should also be noted that they are still very active there since the government does everything to keep them in active life; which visibly seems to make them smile. In addition, it seems that the older we get, the less we are attached to material things. And so in a society like Denmark, not consumerist for a penny, happiness among seniors is obvious. The Nordic model still has a bright future ahead of it!
