Applying for a job requires taking into account a lot of criteria. On the CV, the address can be important.
All candidates looking for a job know this: applying means thinking about each application. Depending on the company or the job description, we change a few details on the CV to highlight a particular quality rather than another or that skill which is more favorable to securing an interview with the recruiter. But, beyond professional career, personal information also matters.
When you send a CV to respond to a job offer, you are not required to include your photo, for example. Nor to immediately indicate your age or your personal situation (as a couple, married, single or divorced, etc.). And, in the upper part of the CV, at the level of the personal information generally slipped under your name, if you indicate your city of residence and you think you are doing the right thing by specifying your entire address… beware! This can be a double-edged sword for your application.
In fact, the full address is of no use on the CV. Worse, even if this should not be taken into account, a recruiter who uses your address on Google Maps to locate it in relation to the office address and sees that you live quite far away and that you will perhaps spend a lot of time driving on the road or on public transport, will probably want to put you at the bottom of his pile of candidates to receive… He will say that you will frequently be late, especially if the company policy on teleworking is not very developed.
But, as several Human Resources professionals indicate on the platform specializing in the world of work, LinkedInwriting your full address on the CV can also sometimes have the opposite effect… logically.
The only case where it should be indicated is if your home is within a radius of approximately 25 minutes on foot. This proves that you will normally always be on time at the office and able to come quickly even on a teleworking day if there is an emergency to be dealt with on site. A “bonus” compared to other candidates.
