Imagination was needed to project oneself into this 40 m² space. As evidenced by the bedroom, whose potential was just waiting to be revealed.
Looking for a family pied-à-terre in Paris, this couple from Bordeaux had only one objective: to find a property to renovate to personalize it while preserving the Haussmannian charm (moldings and parquet floors). They found the rare pearl in the trendy district of Antwerp: a bright 40 m² but in poor condition. Due to numerous load-bearing walls, the original plan had to be retained. To make their vision a reality, they entrusted the project to the girls from Atelier Fauves, Bulle Texier & Marion Mezure.
The project promised to be colossal. “Everything had to be redone: windows, electricity, plumbing and especially the floors, which were all different and sloping”explains interior designer Marion Mezure. Each space has been optimized to maximize the feeling of volume. On the living room side, a large existing cupboard has been kept for its practicality, but modernized. A beautiful demonstration of sustainable renovation, where the existing is enhanced with taste and simplicity.
Decorated to the tastes of its former owners, the bedroom of the apartment was now looking gloomy. Neither the color of the walls, which was no longer fresh, nor the layout of the place pleased the people of Bordeaux. Without a shadow of a doubt, this night room had had its day.
In order to preserve the old-world charm of this sleeping area, interior designer Marion Mezure had the good idea of adding moldings to the base of the walls. As for the bedding, it adopts much more modern bed linen and everything is highlighted thanks to two designer pendant lights. Chosen in a bright red color, they bring the pop touch that the space was missing to please the couple.
Formerly at the end of the bed, the small cupboard and chest of drawers have given way to a large storage unit that stretches across the entire wall. In the extension, above the cleverly hidden radiator, pretty shelves accommodate books and trinkets. A Jieldé lamp takes place there, echoing the pendant lights installed above the bed. The whole creates perfect coherence in this skillfully revised and corrected room.
