This fruit is full of procyanidins, powerful antioxidants. The study demonstrated in vitro that “procyanidin B2 contained in cherry juice inhibited IDO”an enzyme that breaks down tryptophan. By blocking this enzyme, cherry preserves tryptophan, an amino acid precursor of serotonin and melatonin, the sleep hormone.

Beyond the simple lengthening of the night, it is the very quality of rest that has been restored. The researchers conclude that this juice not only “increased duration”but also “sleep efficiency”while reducing inflammatory markers in the body.
