Insulation, heating, comfort… Renovating your home also means reducing your bills and improving your well-being and the return of renovation aid will allow the French to launch their projects.
Changing your windows, redoing the insulation, installing a heat pump… So many projects that many French people had put on hold for several months, due to lack of visibility on aid. But energy renovation, which has become a central issue for reducing bills and improving housing comfort, is coming back to the forefront. And this time, the signal is clear: the MaPrimeRénov’ counter is finally reopening, but it could be short-lived.
After long months of uncertainty, the green light is given with the adoption of the 2026 Budget. The State confirms the restart of the system, supported by an envelope of 3.6 billion euros. “The MaPrimeRénov’ counter must finally reopen, for all families. This is good news which should signal the relaunch of projects”, rejoices Audrey Zermati, Strategy Director of Effy, specialist in energy renovation. “But be careful, don’t delay in submitting your application!”
As soon as it reopens, all households, regardless of their income, will be able to submit an application for aid again. “Single-stage” work (window replacement, installation of a heat pump, roof insulation, etc.) becomes eligible again, with two exceptions: biomass boilers and wall insulation, now excluded from the system. In terms of overall renovation, the window is also opening more widely: it will now concern all households, provided that the accommodation is classified E, F or G before work.
But this reopening may not be sustainable. According to Effy, the counter could close again if the influx of requests exceeds processing capacity. “The French must not wait,” warns the company. With around 83,000 files still waiting for 2025 and up to 120,000 new requests expected this year, the risk of saturation remains very real.
To support individuals, Effy highlights other financing levers: CEE premiums, which can always be combined, and the zero-rate eco-loan (up to 50,000 euros, or even 75,000 euros with additional credit). Enough to relaunch the projects while limiting the rest of the costs.
Clearly, 2026 marks a new start for the energy renovation of French housing. If you are considering work, now is probably the right time to get started, provided, as Effy reminds us, that you do not delay too long in making the request.
