At 83, Michel Fugain flows peaceful days in Corsica, far from the bustle of the Parisian show business. And, on his property, the singer cannot forget his daughter Laurette …
A beautiful story,, The party,, Sung,, Do like the bird… All generations know the hits of Michel Fugain. And after 60 years of career, its success is no longer to prove! Now 83 years old, the popular singer decided to leave the capital. And he absolutely does not regret his choice!
Michel Fugain installed in Corsica “Far from all kinds of agitation”
Installed in Corsica – like many stars, Dutronc in Mireille Dumas -, for a few years, Michel Fugain seems to have found his haven of peace. With his wife Sanda, whom he met only a few months after the death of his daughter Laurette, they are the happy owners of a sumptuous villa located in Corbara, a small village in Haute-Corse, between Ile-Rousse and Calvi. Last January, the founder of the legendary Big Bazaar had also made some confidences on this subject to Pascal Praud on Europe 1.
“I live in Corsica so far from all kinds of agitation. It gives the sufficient perspective to be serene”he said that he was questioned about his Olympic form. It must be said that their house has something to make more than one blush. Surrounded by trees and with a swimming pool, it offers a breathtaking view of the sea.
“We are in symbolism”
Above all, Michel Fugain wanted to bring the memory of his daughter to life, Laurette, who died in 2002, at the age of 22, following leukemia. “My daughter is under an olive tree in my property in Corsica. His ashes, I put an olive tree on it. I hope it will be like that, I will join her ashes. We are not in the pathos, we are in the symbolism”he said. In love with the island of beauty, this father of four children – Marie, Laurette and and Alexis, from her first marriage to Stéphanie, and Sophie, fruit of a youthful love with an air hostess -, never fails to pay tribute to her.
“I live in Corsica, where life is completely normal, where people are normal, where there is no gesticulation. It is the sun that there is there, when I open my shutters in the morning”he said in the columns of Nice morning. And it is up to him to conclude: “When I leave my house and go to Ile-Rousse, I have the Mediterranean Sea on the left, which is my amniotic fluid. I realized by living here that this mass of water is reassuring me, does me good. There, it’s essential!”
