Officially, European sanctions against Russia continue to affect their direct trade relations. But the reality is somewhat different.
According to Eurostat statistics published on Wednesday, European exports to Russia fell by 59% while imports from the latter country fell by 87% between the first quarter of 2022, when Ukraine was invaded, and the second quarter of 2024.
