Because of the cost, many families decide not to enroll their child in summer camp. However, financial assistance from the State exists to support parents in this decision.
Every year, as the school holidays approach, many parents look for solutions to keep their children occupied. Summer camps are an interesting option, but their cost can hinder access. To support low-income households, the government is proposing the Colo Pass. This aid, paid mainly by the Family Allowance Fund (Caf), allows many families to register their children for a vacation.
Who can benefit from the Colo Pass?
As with other financial aid, the Colo Pass is subject to certain criteria. The first condition to be fulfilled concerns the child’s age : the aid must be used during the calendar year in which the child turns 11. In 2026, these are therefore children born in 2015 who are entitled to it, as well as children born in 2014 who did not use it last year. In fact, the Colo Pass can only be used once per child, during school holidays.
The second condition concerns the parental income. To benefit from the assistance, the family quotient must be less than or equal to 1500 euros. In the eyes of the Caf, this corresponds to around 4,000 euros per month of income, for a household with two dependent children. In addition, the Colo Pass is awarded if you choose a stay eligible for the system. The Pass colo stay catalog is available on the Jeunes.gouv.fr website.
How much does the Colo Pass cost?
The amount of the Colo Pass depends on the families’ resources. It amounts to between 200 and 350 euros per child. In addition, the aid is not directly transferred to the parents’ account. It operates according to the third-party payment system: the organizer of the colony, labeled “Pass colo”, applies the reduction directly to the price of the stay. Families therefore only pay the remainder. This help is also combinable with other devices such as the Learning Colos, AVE aid from the Caf, that from communities or even subsidies from the CSE.
| Family Quotient | Amount of the Colo Pass |
| Between 1201 and 1500 euros | 200 euros |
| Between 701 euros and 1200 euros | 250 euros |
| Between 201 and 700 euros | 300 euros |
| From 0 to 200 euros | 350 euros |
To obtain the Colo Pass, there are no steps or files to complete. If you are eligible, vYou receive a notice of rights in your “My account” space on the Caf website or the MSA (Mutualité sociale agricole) depending on your situation. In general, Caf and MSA beneficiaries are notified in February. If you do not belong to any of these organizations, it is the Jeunesse au Plein Air (JPA) association which assesses your eligibility.
