Questioned by “France Sunday” on the sidelines of the charitable event slides in the heart, Stéphanie Fugain confided with frankness on the great drama of her life.
It is in the columns of France Sunday that Stéphanie Fugain recently confided. The former woman of singer Michel Fugain, with whom she lived 34 years old and had three children, Marie, Laurette and Alexis, talks about the death of her daughter and the way in which she managed this drama. Especially vis-à-vis his young son …
“Often, we think of the patient, the mother (…) but not necessarily of the brothers, sisters …”
Laurette Fugain died in 2002, at the age of 22, from leukemia. Now 77 years old, Stéphanie has no trouble telling the dark period, which lasted years, having followed this tragic disappearance. “When we lost Laurette, my eldest daughter, Marie, was bigger, but my son, Alexis, was only 9 years old and I especially didn’t want him to grow when life looked like that”she told the magazine.
Before continuing: “He who was the latest, hitherto pampered by his big sisters, surrounded by love like a little prince … And all of a sudden saying to himself: ‘It was wonderful until yesterday, and now it is the horror’. So we did all a job for everyone to be integrated into suffering. Because often, we think of the patient, the mother who loses her child, but not necessarily of the brothers, sisters, friends, little friends … “.
How did Stéphanie Fugain face the death of her daughter Laurette?
Questioned in stride on her own mourning, Stéphanie Fugain gave herself without eyeshadow. “I needed to stay for five years in my bubble, at the bottom of my bag. In the middle of my countryside, surrounded by my trees, without a noise, just the song of birds, I wanted to find myself at the bottom of me and imagine Laurette every second”she detailed. Before explaining not without difficulty: “Especially since, just behind her, I quickly lost my mom, then my dad …”
“”We do not forget, but we learn to live with this pain, otherwise. Because for years, it is prohibited. We no longer laugh, we no longer want to be beautiful, to go dance … because we feel guilty. But life continues, it’s her strength “then added the ex-wife of Michel Fugain who has since remarried to him with Sanda, a twenty-year-old Romanian his youngest with which he lives in Corsica, where Laurette is buried. “For my part, I learned more in my life after Laurette, than before. I loaned it up in something that turned out to be salutary, and one day there is this little flame that sparkles again at the bottom of your guts …”she concluded full of hope.
