Unable to resolve its debts while respecting payment deadlines, it risks bankruptcy after a decade of success.
The end-of-year holidays and Christmas holidays have somewhat overshadowed the bad news. However, last December, the ready-to-wear crisis claimed a new victim in the French fashion landscape. After having touched several iconic tricolor brands in 2025 such as IKKSthis time it is a Marseille label which is paying the price for the difficulties encountered by the market. On Thursday, December 18, we learned that he was placed in receivership by the Marseille Economic Activities Court.
After Kaporalso it’s the turn of the local brand JOTT – acronym of Just Over The Top – to face financial setbacks… Under the threat of definitive liquidation, it is now looking for buyer(s) capable of deploying a viable strategic plan to save it and thus preserve as many jobs as possible out of the 183 threatened.
Financial difficulties which actually date back to 2023. In fact, the brand suffered a clear drop in its turnover between 2023 and 2024: the latter went from 26.5 to 24.9 million euros. The net result, for its part, was negative over the last three years (-7.1 million in 2023 then -6.7 million in 2024). A situation which has worsened over time, since in November 2025, JOTT is ultimately unable to resolve its debts with its own funds and finds itself in default of payments.
A few years ago, however, it was presented as a model of French success. Born in 2010 under the leadership of two southern cousins, it is appreciated for its colorful down jacket, light and ultra compact, which is a delight in playgrounds and city dwellers on two wheels. Because yes, ironically, this brand originating from the sunny Phocaean city is known for this piece that we usually associate with colder regions. Initially national, the down jacket in sometimes garish colors became noticed on a global scale, so much so that it ended up opening boutiques abroad (120 in 2022).
In 2021, L Cattertonan investment fund linked to Arnault family companies, even bought back the majority of its capital to accelerate its growth (as a reminder, L Catterton owns other fashion heavyweights like APC. Or Birkenstock).
JOTT is now still looking for buyers. Interested parties have until the end of January to submit their application, indicate our colleagues at Fashion Network.
