An earthquake causes an avalanche that blocks the tunnel which is the only access to a valley. The inhabitants of the town and the tourists staying in a hotel remain trapped for days without being able to communicate with the outside world. But many of them have something to hide and everything gets really messy. A truly intriguing situation in the Rai 1 series Blackout of which the first of the eight episodes of the second season starts tonight and which features among the protagonists Alessandro Preziosi, a widower with two children, who launders the money of his brother, a Camorra leader on trial for murder. And the prosecution witness is in that valley, under protection. Her brother has the task of eliminating her. In the cast as a policeman Aurora Ruffinowho we interviewed.
This is a very different role than usual. You’re wearing a policeman’s uniform. Is this your first time wearing a uniform?
«Yes, I am a Carabinieri officer who became such not because of my vocation but to respond to my father’s wishes».
The community left stranded by the avalanche is lost and scared. You represent the only semblance of authority in that place.
“In fact, everyone turns to me looking for comfort and solutions, but at the beginning I’m too caught up in my personal dramas and I’m lost, then at a certain point I’ll become aware of my responsibilities.”
Where in Trentino was the series filmed?
«In the Vanoi Valley, but the fact that it can only be accessed via a tunnel is a fiction. We shot last winter in Fiera di Primiero and San Martino di Castrozza.”
Do you love the mountains?
«I never went there as a child, I discovered it with my work as an actress, filming for the first time One step from heaven. It fascinates me a lot, but I would never want to ski, I freeze at the idea of having to dress in layers. But if I have to choose a place of my heart I much prefer the sea, water is my element.”
With Usand then with Blackoutyou have finally left the role of the little girl behind. What other roles would you like to play?
«I must say that I had the opportunity to play many different roles, even in costume in the series The Doctors. Since I am passionate about fantasy, I would like to be a superhero.”
How did your adventure in entertainment begin?
«My first passion was dance and after high school I went to Turin to attend a musical academy. On that occasion we went to the Film Commission and there was a casting for The loneliness of numbers early by Saverio Costanzo. They were looking for extras, but in the end they took me for an important role. And it was then the director who insisted that I enroll at the Experimental Cinematography Center in Rome.”
In Us you were the mother of triplets and at the beginning of Blackout your character discovers that she is expecting a baby. Is there a motherhood plan in your life?
“It’s an idea that has come up a few times in my life, but not now, because after many years with my partner we separated.”
You are six brothers: I imagine you have grandchildren, what kind of aunt are you?
«I have two nephews and I play the role of the crazy aunt, who plays pranks, makes faces, brings out the wilder side that perhaps parents in their educational role tend to repress».
Among the series in which you acted there was also the one about Chiara Lubich. What relationship do you have with faith?
«I cultivate the spiritual dimension a lot, I am sure that God exists, but beyond a single religion. I read many texts by spiritual masters, including Christians, I loved Jung’s Red Book, I find that they all have a common thread. I am also interested in the study of Kabbalah. I seek my way, but not with the intellect, I try to perceive our true essence, which for some is called soul and I feel like a blue sphere.”
