Since leaving the road in the heat in France, Yann Barthès has been under fire from critics. A petition was even set up to “turn off the air conditioning”! She has already collected thousands of signatures…
The presenter of DailyYann Barthès, is caught up in a controversy which turns into bad buzz. The cause? A remark on the set about the heatwave which remains in the throat of all those who suffer from the heat.
Yann Barthès: Why is he the subject of a petition?
On June 23, on the set of Dailythe host saw fit to make fun of anonymous people who had testified in reports about the suffocating heat in their attic accommodation. “There is this category of people who are more concerned than all the others (…) They feel entitled to speak louder because ‘I live under the roof.’ Nobody cares!“, quipped the divisive host on the air.
Then, Yann Barthès continued his tirade on the heat and suffered greatly: “Everyone is hot. We are all in the same boat. If you meet Bernard Arnault, he will be hot. A minister will be hot. It will be as hot as you, as your neighbor above or below, whether you live in the North or in the South.” Which is obviously false. Who can believe that the boss of LVMH does not live and work in the cool, with state-of-the-art air conditioning?
The indecency of the privileged, in one sequence.
No, not everyone is in the same boat during the heatwave.
Yes, the most modest are legitimate to express their anger because they are the first affected.

Very quickly, the TMC host sparked an outcry against him, going so far as to become the target of a petition. Created by Charlotte Ensaigne, a teacher and activist well known to Internet users, she wants (symbolically) to “turn off the air conditioning to Yann Barthès”. And she has already collected almost 17,000 signatures!
Its founder denounces “class contempt” and his request is clear: “Let Yann Barthès publicly recognize that heatwaves worsen social inequalities and that not everyone is exposed to the same risks in the face of heat. Because he seems convinced that billionaires, ministers and residents of maid’s rooms experience heatwaves in the same conditions, we are symbolically asking for Yann Barthès’ air conditioning to be turned off.”
Yann Barthès becomes the target of comedians… even on his set!
Targeted by Internet users, politicians and even the newspaper Release (who dedicated a post to him entitled “Heatwave: no, Yann Barthès, we are not ‘all in the same boat'”), the host is especially the target of comedians. On Tiktok, Nash made a video talking about her desire to buy an air conditioner because she lives “under the roofs… hello Yann!“, she said, mockingly.
For the last of the season, comedian Louis Cattelat had fun with the host on set: “Before starting my column, I would like to pay tribute to a person who tragically died, I am of course talking about Bernard Arnault, who died because of the heatwave in his maid’s room. (…) Bernard Arnault was hot like all of us, he was human”he said.
And for Louis Cattelat to blurt out: “I talk nonsense, I overdosed on air conditioning in Yann’s office. So I talk nonsense, like him.”
