There are several ways ofhammock Depending on the type of hanging you have:
- A hammock support : Some hammocks are indeed sold directly with a metal support and it is enough simply to attach the textiles to the dedicated hooks. For other hammocks, we will have to find the most appropriate fixing system.
- Between two trees : In a garden, the ideal is to be able to install the hammock between two trees using a rope that you will have around the trunk. At least two rope turns should be made around the tree.
- Only one tree : If you have only one tree, you can complete the installation using a post that you will have to seal in the ground. If the distance allows, it is also possible to add a tie directly to the facade of your home. It will then be necessary to choose a hook appropriate to the material and a fixing solid enough to guarantee your safety.
- No tree : If your garden does not offer you any possibility of fixing, the posts are the most suitable solution. It will be necessary to keep them properly sealing them in the ground to ensure the stability of the installation.
In the case of a Installation on a balconyyou can put ankles in the walls, taking care that they are solid enough to support the weight of the hammock and its user. It is of course also possible to invest in a hammate medium if you do not want to pierce the walls.
Fix your hammock
Once the type of grip has been selected, this is the moment ofhammock. Unless you opt for a hammock support, it is to you that the choice of the fixing height and the curve given by the distance between the two anchor points will come back. And this step will both guarantee your comfort but also your safety.
In general, the minimum distance required between two attachment points is 3 meters but must be calculated according to the size of the hammac and represent at least 90% of its total suspended length. To determine the installation height, in principle must be divided by two the spacing between the two fixings. For example, if your fixing points are spaced 3 meters spaced, the hammock will have to be installed at a height of at least 1.5 meters. Contrary to popular belief, the hammock should not be tense but rather have the shape of a banana or a crescent moon. It is also considered that the hammock must be located 40-50 cm from the ground when loaded, therefore modify the height accordingly.
Safety rules
- As a reminder, we do not lie in length in a traditional hammock but rather slightly at an angle. Hams that have bars on both sides of the textiles can be used in length.
- Always check that the fixing is very solid before you settle down. If you use ropes, friction can use it after a while and they should be replaced. To avoid wear and tear, you can also opt for stainless steel hearts, metallic parts that will protect the rope.
- Always be careful to respect the maximum weight that the installation can withstand. You will generally find this information on the manual for your hammock. Similarly, the fixing chosen will have to correspond to the weight: therefore make solid nodes but also choose ankles adapted to the material of your wall for example.
