Often accumulated throughout his life, the savings that is intended for his retirement is particularly darling. Also, is it reasonable to invest it by taking risks? A prioriyes, if these savings are placed on a retirement savings plan (PER), according to the latest data on the Good Value For Money site. As a reminder, with this savings product, the default management mode is management controlled by horizon. This means that the distribution between risk -free investments (Euros funds) and risky (account units) is done according to your age when subscribing to the contract, then your insurer is responsible for changing it until your retirement.
In other words, you just have to leave the steering wheel. The younger you are and far from the retirement age, the higher the share of UC. Then, as you get closer to your end of career, the part invested in less risky products, such as the Euros fund, will gradually take over. However, to guide the management of the insurer, you will also have to choose between three risk profiles (prudent, balanced or dynamic) which will determine the share of risky investments throughout the duration of the contract.
The most adventurous savers are on average the most rewarded
However, it turns out, that in average, it is indeed the most adventurous savers who obtain the best performance: all investment periods combined, the profiled management by prudent horizon displayed an average of 4.36% in 2024. It is a little more for the profiled management on a balanced horizon: 5.39%, and even more for the dynamic profiles, 6.58%. Logical, the more risk we take, the higher the hope of gain.
However, “Not all profiled management are equal”warns Cyrille Chartier-Kaslter, founder of Good Value For Money. Behind this average hide significant disparities. For a fictitious saver of 35 years, the best dynamic profile management of the panel posted in 2024 a performance of 12.70 % net of costs, against… 0.60 % net of expenses for the less good. Even if the profiled management consists in leaving the hand to the insurer, it is therefore better to take a look at what it can invest in.
The pervested in shares are done better over time
For Cyrille Chartier-Kastler, it is the proportion of equity investment which is the most decisive to display a high long-term return: “Stock market investment is the only truly efficient over time. On average, a double stock investment in 15 years “, he recalls. The best profiled market for the market are thus more positioned, on average, in active funds or ETF themselves invested in French actions, and a fortiori, international.
Also, choosing a dynamic profile to hope to significantly increase your capital is not enough. Over a period of investment of 30 years – for example a saver who would open his retirement savings plan (PER) at 35 years, for a departure at 65 years – the difference between the best and the worst contract of the market is significant: with a payment of 1,000 euros per month, the most efficient dynamic profiled management arrives at a capital of 248,127 euros retired, against only 39,598 euros with the less good. Or a difference of more than 200,000 euros, and especially less than the gain displayed by the least good contract in prudent management: 43,227 euros. An eloquent example, but which remains theoretical however, since the performance of a contract remains duration the duration of investment.
