Faced with the perseverance of flashy motorists at all-vanity by an automatic radar, the prefecture had no choice but to review the signaling.
This is an extremely rare case: obtaining causes in the face of an automatic radar … because most of the time, disputes do not really allow the driver to be acquitted. The fines for speeding as well as the loss of points on your driving license are more and more frequent on the roads, in particular with the development of radars which manage to better detect offenses thanks to artificial intelligence. But it sometimes happens, in rare cases, that a failure is the source of a PV rain.
This is particularly what happened in early September in Hérault, on the RN109, at the entrance to Montpellier. Road users denounced in the newspaper Le Figaro a real injustice: “Barely 50 meters separated the panel announcing the speed drop from 110 to 90 km/h and the electronic eye responsible for verbalizing the offenders”, specifies the daily that explains that the braking maneuver was almost impossible on this section of barely three kilometers.
Faced with the anger of motorists, the Hérault prefecture finally folded. A first limitation panel at 90 km/h would have been installed 150 meters upstream to allow a simple reminder when approaching the radar in question.
This adaptation of the signaling should thus allow motorists to adapt their appearance by anticipating more so as not to risk a ticket. According to RMC, nearly 1,000 vehicles were flashes every day on this section, a figure which should significantly decrease with the new configuration. Several user associations welcome the decision, believing that it corrects a “trap” denounced for months.
