We no longer know where to turn when it comes to sneakers. Without us paying attention, sneaker trends come and go. Yesterday on everyone’s feet, this pair will soon disappear from the shelves.
Everything is ephemeral in the modosphere. Yesterday’s trendy pieces are becoming outdated at lightning speed. Even the sneakers that have invaded the feet of all our peers are one day or another doomed to disappear. And this ultra-popular pair of sneakers does not escape this disastrous fate.
Fashion sensation of the year 2023, the latter has established itself with just as much enthusiasm in 2024. It is one of those shoes which have restored all its glory to the eternal rival of Nike – I named, adidas. Recognizable among thousands by its “tennis sneaker” style silhouette, its three iconic stripes, its little contrasting suede tip for a touch of stylistic madness, its tongue stamped with the equipment manufacturer’s logo on a square background; this pair of sneakers made the heyday of the brand from Germany. Born in 1949 on a frozen football field, it reached its peak in the 1970s, then returned to success 50 years later, in 2023. As luck would have it, that year, adidas is obviously the sixth brand where the French make their purchases the most (Statista). You may have guessed it, this sneaker formerly at the top and already in decline is none other than the Samba.
According to @style.analyticsthe famous model showed a 32% drop in interest from fashionistas, compared to its peak reached in April 2024. Monthly searches thus fell from 7.3 to 5 million. However, two years ago, it was worn by all the stars, from superstar models to rap stars: Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Katie Holmes and Pharrell Williams, all wore it with a different style – yet another proof of its versatility. Icons like Freddie Mercury also put it at their feet, giving it that I don’t know what which still makes it irresistible 70 years later.
According to Google Trendsthe number of searches also follows this decline: they have been in free fall since the end of August. So expect Samba to take up less space on the shelves in the coming days…
