It’s the toy that all parents will grab for Christmas. And it’s not just because a jury awarded it the prize for best toy of the year and the Grand Prize in the educational console category… Here is our opinion.
As Christmas approaches, the French do not always know what toys to give to their children, nieces and nephews or their grandchildren. To please them, there’s nothing like dolls or figurines bearing the image of their favorite characters, construction games, board games, collectible games or even creative or electronic toys… which are part of the major trends every year. Among the most sought-after toys are also those that have never been seen before and which stand out for their innovation. This is particularly the case of Vtech Leapmove toy which won this year the Grand Prix for Toy of the Year 2025 as well as the Grand Prix in the educational console category.
Well-deserved rewards since this TV console without controller allows children, from the age of 4, to learn while moving and having fun. How does it work? The Leapmove console detects the child’s movements using an integrated sensor. Through 25 games already included, he can move, jump like an armadillo, dance like a fox, fly like a strange dragon… But also learn to count, to test his logic, his spelling. Each game has three difficulty levels to suit all ages, from kindergarten to CM2.
We had the chance to test this console and from the start, we were won over… Starting with the simplicity of its installation. In fact, two connections are enough to connect it to the television and it works without an internet connection. Practical for parents (like me) who can’t bear to read the instructions for hours before starting a game. Our three and a half year old son, certainly a little young to test the console, still particularly enjoyed dancing with his friend the fox and catching the bubbles with his hands… Thus, numerous missions are offered and the children are spoiled for choice.
Charlotte, mother of Léo, 7 years old, has already given the console as a birthday present. “My son loves it, it’s the good compromise for a first games console“, she assures us. Like us, she notices, however, that the detection of the child is sometimes a little capricious: you really have to position yourself well to be able to play correctly, and not pass too much behind the child, in the living room, so as not to cause the machine to bug. In any case, “educational games really get the child moving in front of the screen, we feel that he is doing his little sports session“, adds the young mother.
Price-wise, even if it may represent a certain budget, we ultimately find it very reasonable for a nice Christmas gift: at 79.99 euros, we are still offering the best toy of the year 2025. And that’s not all: of course, it is a games console and therefore a screen, but some parents will still be relieved to swap the addictive content of Youtube which is very unsuitable for children with these educational games which encourage the action. This morning, moreover, instead of calling for me “Spiderman riding a slide”my son asked me about the “little dancing fox“, and there, no need to say no anymore, to come across as the “bad girl” who refuses everything: we create real joyful family moments.
