There is no taboo subject for Florent Pagny. Even that of money. The singer, who earns a very good living, ranted about abuse in the industry…
Back with a new album called Life sizethe singer Florent Pagny multiplies the confidences in promo and does not make tongues on any subject: his cancer, The Voice or even money… Guest in The Grand Studio from RTL, he notably mentioned the excesses in the industry at a time when everyone must tighten their belts.
Florent Pagny tackles his colleagues: “Stop, we can’t do that, it’s not nice.”
As usual, the singer of the hit Know how to love did not mince his words. Asked whether or not he would like to perform one day at the Stade de France like other popular artists – Aya Nakamura, for example, has just announced no less than 3 dates there -, Florent Pagny made it known that he categorically refused to play there… For financial reasons!
“You could do the Stade de France, but you don’t want to do it because you don’t want to ask the people who love you and who follow you to pay too much?”his interlocutor actually asked him. To which Florent Pagny immediately responded: “When someone gives me a business plan and they explain to me: ‘Okay, we can do the stadiums but it’s 140 balls in front and 90 euros behind’. You say to yourself: ‘Stop, we can’t do that, it’s not nice’.”
Indeed, the prices of concert tickets have increased enormously in recent years, particularly for concerts at the Stade de France. For example, Beyoncé asked for up to 277 euros for a Gold square and The Weeknd, for his concerts next year, is asking for up to 222 euros… “So I’m not going to do the stadiums”finally assured Florent Pagny.
“It’s true that it’s a budget”
In the process, the one who has shared his life with Azucena since 1993, detailed his remarks: “In the end anyway, it’s true that it’s a budget (…) When the four of them arrive it’s a big budget and so at one point they shouldn’t say to themselves: ‘Why did I come here?’” And Florent Pagny concludes: “It has to be impeccable and the show has to be on par with what we have to experience today”.
Consistent, Florent Pagny – who therefore shares the same vision as Nicola Sirkis, who caps the price of tickets for his concerts with Indochine – thus turns towards human-sized venues, like Zéniths, and that does not prevent him from performing all over France. The one who has just acquired a farm on his native land, Burgundy, will in fact go on tour from March 2026.
