No need to break the bank to please the children! These still little-known stores offer toys online at knockdown prices and are at the top of the cheapest toy stores according to a ranking by UFC-Que Choisir.
Many French people anticipate Christmas shopping so as not to have to spend hundreds of euros in December. And to please the children, Christmas toys can quickly add up to the bill. To get good deals, many consumers compare offers from toy brands and stores, including on the Internet. A study by UFC-Que Choisir, published on October 17, lists the cheapest brands on the internet for purchasing toys online.
After comparing the prices of 50 very famous toys on several online sales sites, such as Lego, Playmobil, Barbie or even board games, the consumer association reveals that specialized toy stores remain overall the most expensive on the market. Result: mass distribution brands are clearly doing well. Leclerc tops the ranking of the cheapest stores in France, with price differences of up to 30% compared to specialized brands like Grande Récré. One downside, however: the choice remains quite limited at Leclerc compared to other specialized sites.
But if we look at online toy stores, a player still little known to the general public clearly makes the difference: it is a chain of toy stores of Irish origin, arriving in France in 2022 after the takeover of the former PicWicToys stores. The Smyths Toys brand now has around fifty stores across France, in addition to its online platform. It therefore climbs to second place in the UFC-Que Choisir rankings, thanks to particularly attractive prices on a wide range of toys. However, despite its competitive prices of up to -50% on a selection of toys and its numerous promotions, this brand still remains unknown to many French consumers.
On the online site, we can indeed find numerous advantages and reductions as well as free delivery from 29 euros of purchases. There is also a “Mega Promos” section with star toys displayed at half price, Lego at knockdown prices or even imitation games for less than 10 euros. Enough to fill Santa’s bag without emptying his wallet. Better yet, stocks are already well stocked, which allows you to avoid the December rush while taking advantage of the best offers before anyone else. In short, a real smart option for preparing gifts for the whole family without breaking the budget.
