Here we are on the 1st floor of a residence from the 80s in Bandol, in Provence. This 24 m² would become the playground of interior designer Stéphanie Le Rouzic, founder of the Mars Avril agency. A fan of her work, the owner of the place naturally turned to her, and how well she did! Initially, there was a dated decoration that this couple from Bouches-du-Rhône, close to retirement at the time, could no longer see in painting. They wanted and needed modernity, to put an end to the too much seaside spirit and to reconfigure these poorly designed spaces. As a bonus, they want a real secluded bedroom, all the comfort of a larger apartment, dishwasher and washing machine included, as well as a well-defined dining area to entertain their family and friends. “They wanted to have fun, because they knew they were going to spend more time there”remembers Stéphanie Le Rouzic.
Make the most of the limited space available
In order to successfully complete the renovation of this Mediterranean pied-à-terre, the interior designer did not skimp on good ideas: “this is my Tetris project!”she tells us with humor. There was first a little patching of the floor before pouring a magnificent polished concrete on the original tiling, which was in good condition. A creation by Ad Astra, a specialist in the field. On the walls, a pure white was created, like a backdrop on which all that remained was to distill a soft atmosphere, a touch of Japandi. (Re)thinking like a cabin, the couple’s bedroom has gained height. Today perched on a small platform, it offers beautiful storage spaces in the lower part, as they had always dreamed of. A project without pitfalls, carried out by the super efficient teams of the Renoov company and the know-how of Mr Rozé, cabinetmaker in Marseille, who carried out all the tailor-made joinery for the premises.
