54% of French households are affected by the phenomenon of clay shrinkage-swelling (RGA). Many buildings are located in areas with clay soils. However, depending on the weather, the clays shrink or swell, which can have serious consequences for homes. To prevent these risks, the Ministry of Ecological Transition has opened a prevention fund.
For the moment, this device is reserved for residents of the eleven departments in which it is tested. It provides technical and financial support: 50 to 90% of expenses can be covered depending on the level of household income and the work to be carried out. This can be a simple diagnosis of vulnerability or even preventive work such as the management of buried water networks or vegetation as well as the waterproofing of the soil around the home.
The clay prevention fund open to certain conditions
To benefit from this aid, you must live in one of the following eleven departments: Allier, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Dordogne, Gers, Indre, Lot-et-Garonne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Nord, Puy-de-Dôme, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne. Other conditions must be met: it is necessary to live in a detached house and it must be your main residence.
You must also live in an area of high exposure to the phenomenon of shrinkage-swelling of clays; the end of construction of the house must be more than 15 years old; the dwelling must not be terraced and not have more than two levels; the owners must occupy the premises and have never suffered a loss, except when it is a small-scale loss. Furthermore, resource ceilings must also be respected. To ensure eligibility, the government has set up a simulator to the prevention fund.
