Used every day, the bathroom is one of the rooms that gets dirty the fastest. Want to simplify your life? Follow the steps in our handy guide to clean it and make it shine in thirty minutes, or even a little less.
Mold, limescale, hair, soap marks, makeup residue… The bathroom is used from morning to evening, and we don’t always have the time, or the desire, to clean it every day. There is no need to panic, just proceed with organization and step by step to save precious time. By implementing a quick and efficient cleaning routine, here’s how to clean the bathroom in 30 minutes, no more. Solo, duo or family, on your marks, ready? Clean the bathroom!
Step 1: equip yourself and motivate yourself
Before even starting to clean your bathroom, start by gathering your equipment. Gather gloves, clean microfiber cloths (they are reusable and therefore more environmentally friendly) and cleaning products, homemade or purchased commercially and ideally organic, in a bucket with a mop. Start your favorite music playlist, take a deep breath and it’s your turn!
Step 2: Declutter the Space
Now that you’re ready to clean everything, make the task easier by freeing up space. To do this, declutter the sink and shelves and quickly put away all your beauty and body care products. Unplug devices that are (electric toothbrush, straighteners, etc.) and put them in drawers or cupboards. Take the opportunity to empty your bathroom trash can and collect dirty towels and bathrobes as well as any clothes lying around. Put everything in the dirty laundry basket provided for this purpose.
Step 3: Pre-clean
Once the bathroom is so well decluttered, you can see more clearly and can start your cleaning with a pre-clean. A step too often skipped which nevertheless saves you from scrubbing like a madman for many minutes and saves you time. After putting on your gloves, generously spray your special bathroom cleaning product on the affected areas – sink, shower tray or bathtub and toilet bowl, not forgetting the rim – following the instructions. Then let the product act for a few minutes. It will take care of removing limescale and dirt while you move on to the next step.
Step 4: clean mirrors and glass surfaces
It has to shine in the bathroom! To do this, take a window cleaner and spray it on the mirrors and glass shower screens. Then use a cotton cloth to wipe them until the liquid is completely absorbed. Are there any traces left? Roll an old newspaper into a ball, at least two weeks old if you don’t want to end up with ink on your hands, and go over the surfaces again. A grandmother’s tip that has proven itself. Finish by wiping carefully with a dry microfiber cloth and it should shine.
Step 5: scrub the toilet
For a few minutes now, the product sprayed beforehand has had time to take effect. So you can start scrubbing the toilets. First use the brush to scrub the inside of the bowl up to the rim. Flush the toilet. Also remember to clean the exterior of the toilet, the seat and the flush button with a suitable spray and a microfiber cloth or wipes (if they are recyclable). Tip: fill the toilet brush holder with white vinegar, this will allow you to quickly brick the toilet bowl between cleanings.
Step 6: rinse sink, shower and bathtub
Now that the toilet is clean, you can rinse the cleaner you sprayed into the sink, shower and/or bathtub. If everything can dry in the open air, be sure to wipe the taps with a microfiber cloth. Once polished, your faucets will shine brightly.
Step 7: take care of the soil
You are almost finished cleaning your bathroom, but there is still one more step, and not the least important one, which is to clean the floor. If it’s not very dirty, simply sweep or vacuum it to say goodbye to dust and hair. And if the need arises and you have time left, roll up your sleeves one last time and mop the floor, soaked in black soap dissolved in a large volume of hot water.
Step 8: the finishing touch
Bravo, in 30 minutes flat, you have completed this cleaning routine specially designed for the bathroom. Before you relax for good, put dirty rags in the wash, put away cleaning products, put a bag in the trash and get out some new, clean towels. And that’s it!
