This new feature on Vinted changes our consumption habits. We were all impatiently waiting for it.

Vinted is the benchmark for second-hand fashion. In just a few years, the platform has managed to establish itself sustainably in Europe, particularly in countries such as Portugal, Italy and Spain. In France, it has also become the leading clothing retailer, ahead of ultra fast-fashion sites like Temu and Shein, according to a study conducted a few months ago by the French Fashion Institute. This success is not surprising: attractive prices, good deals and reduced environmental impact. Although ecology is not always the main motivation for second-hand buyers, this practice still helps to avoid a considerable amount of CO2 emissions.

These days, consumers are paying much more attention to what happens to their wardrobe. We no longer throw things away without thinking, as we used to do; we give or we sell. Especially since today, we rarely stop wearing an outfit because it is too worn, but rather because it no longer suits us or our tastes have evolved. It then becomes obvious to offer a second life, or even several, to the pieces that we have worn. For many, however, finding the perfect item on Vinted remains a challenge. Finding rare gems sometimes requires searching for hours. But those days are now over! A new feature allows you to perform searches directly from a photo. And no, it’s not a question of using Google Lens as we used to, but of using the tool integrated into the application and the website.

To activate this option, simply click on the search bar, where you usually type your keywords. To the right of this field, a small camera icon is now visible. By pressing it, the application offers you two possibilities. The first is to upload an image already present in your gallery, which is ideal for finding that sweater seen on an Instagram screenshot or Pinterest inspiration. The second option allows you to take a photo directly via the application. This feature is particularly formidable when you’re window shopping: a simple photo of a new item of clothing in store allows artificial intelligence to instantly scan the catalog to see if the same model is sold there at a fraction of the original price.

This feature is already available. No more searching for the exact words to describe a cut or a complex pattern: the algorithm will visually analyze your image to find matches.

Whether from a screenshot or a candid photo, the platform will instantly offer you identical or similar items, making second hand items as accessible and quick as new items.
