Despite his status and his fortune, Michel-Edouard Leclerc is not a boss like the others. Interviewed by “Le Journal des Femmes”, he told us about his daily life as a business manager but also about the behind the scenes of his personal life.
At 73 years old, Michel-Edouard Leclerc is probably one of the best known and appreciated bosses of the French. The businessman gave a long interview to Women’s Journal to lift the veil on his daily life as a business manager, his relationship with money and even his passions. If we already knew he was a comic book collector, there are also other things that excite him.
Michel-Edouard Leclerc also likes cars but, strangely, the man who divides his time between his Parisian offices and his frequent visits to stores in the provinces does not have a vehicle of his own. Well, almost…”I don’t have a personal car, except two collector’s cars, which are very old cars which, when they don’t break down, I use to go to the beach because I live half in Finistère and the other half in Paris“, he confided. And to specify the cars he has in his garage: “I have a Panhard Dyna from 1952, It’s a 3 horsepower, it’s not a Ferrari! And I have, like Inspector Colombo, a white 403. At his house too it breaks down all the time.”
Michel-Edouard Leclerc, who also owned a “Used Peugeot 204, with a hook behind to pull the boat trailer“, bought with his first salaries, acquired his two collector’s cars”15 years ago“. And if they still work, the businessman admits that he “you have to put them back“. But, not so much of a mechanic type, he can fortunately count on a little help: “I have a friend who is a tractor specialist and who repairs them for me“.
Far from leading a lavish life, Michel-Edouard Leclerc prefers to occupy his free time with sporting activities on his land in Brittany. “There, my friends, who are all much younger than me, are surfers who are employees either at the Leclerc center or at the local Intermarché. We have a few surf spots that are not bad. I do a lot of sailing and so I tend to take people on catamarans. And I’m also a walker, so I’m doing the GR34. I have practically covered the whole of Brittany. Backpack, that’s my pleasure!“, he told us.
