In 2026, hairstyles favor natural texture and modernity: one of them particularly appeals to women over 50.

In 2026, a wind of freedom is blowing through hairstyle trends. Long dominated by ultra-structured cuts and clean lines, they are now giving way to a movement from the United States: Nappy, for “natural & happy”. The idea is simple: accept and enhance the natural texture of the hair, whether it is smooth, wavy or slightly curly. The volumes are no longer fixed, they move, live, frame the face. The work with color follows the same logic: hair contouring is essential to sculpt the features, bring light and create an impression of relief. Result: no more straight and strict squares, considered too rigid, in favor of freer, more flattering and above all more current cuts.

In this context, a short but modular cut begins to appear discreetly. We saw it on Rama Duwaji, but also on Léa Seydoux, who offers a falsely wise, very French version. It also appeals to many women over 50. Sharon Stone actually wore it, proving that it can be modern, elegant and rejuvenating at the same time. This hybrid cut, halfway between very short and mid-length, has a name: the bixie. According to Stephanie Angelone, New York specialty hairstylist at RPZL, “the bixie combines the best of the pixie and the bob: it creates movement and volume while remaining easy to wear, even for hair that begins to lose density with age” she explained to Real Simple.

The bixie was born from the fusion between the pixie cut and the bob. It maintains the freshness and boldness of a short cut, while offering more length and flexibility around the face. This is precisely what explains its success with mature women: it softens the features, structures the oval and instantly gives a youthful look without going overboard. It perfectly embodies the Nappy spirit: natural, customizable and easy to live with, while remaining modern and stylish.

In terms of maintenance, the bixie requires little effort but some good reflexes. The idea is not to freeze the cut, but to preserve its movement. A light styling product, such as a texturizing cream or sea salt spray, is enough to reshape the volume. Experts also recommend regular touch-ups every six to eight weeks to maintain beautiful structure, especially at the nape of the neck and the locks that frame the face. Finally, hair contouring plays a key role: slightly lighter shades around the temples or lengths provide depth and luminosity, without restrictive maintenance.

At the crossroads of natural and chic, the bixie stands out as one of the key cuts of 2026. A fashionable hairstyle, designed to accompany women at each stage of their life, without ever erasing their personality.
