After thirty-eight years of consolidated habits, Strip the News renews itself by giving itself a new look. No longer the daily event that accompanies Italian dinner, but a truly great Thursday evening show. Antonio Ricci defines it as an “act of resistance and resilience”, a challenge launched at prime time to demonstrate that the longest-running satirical news program in the world has no intention of growing old, bringing with him a battleship of guests ready for anything: from Maria De Filippi in an “avenging” version to Alex Del Piero as the new Captain.
The move to the weekly is not, in Ricci’s words, a fallback but rather a strategic and artistic choice. The success of the program “The Wheel of Fortune” hosted by Gerry Scottiled Mediaset to choose not to interrupt its broadcast, pushing Striscia towards early evening. Among the many innovations of the new format there is certainly the duration of the episodes, which will become real shows that will accompany Italians on Thursday evenings until after midnight. But the real coup of the new season are the heavyweights of TV and beyond that Ricci managed to involve. As for the queen of Canale 5, Maria de Filippi, we will not see her behind a desk, but on the field. Accompanied by Tina Cipollari and the troublemaker Giovannino, Maria will become an “avenger” of parking spaces for disabled people, going to find those who illegally occupy the reserved parking spaces.

In the renewed Strip there will also be room for a new “Captain X”, namely Alex Del Piero. The former Juventus number 10, through the use of artificial intelligence, will step into the shoes of a superhero ready to avert national disruptions with a ball. The dream team of the new season adds a precious piece with Roberta Bruzzone, who in the column “Striscia Criminale” will analyze the darkest backgrounds of television productions. The live orchestra conducted by the maestro will give musical rhythm to the broadcast Demo Morselli. To take advantage of these renewed musical breaks, a dance troupe, the famous showgirls, no longer made up of two dancers but rather of 6.
Antonio Ricci wanted to strongly underline that the programme, far from being outdated, remains the most modern laboratory of Italian televisionso much so that he willingly lent himself as a guinea pig for the publisher’s experiments after having given, as ironically by the author himself, his body to science. Among the novelties of this season, Gabibbo’s final theme song dedicated to Donald Trump’s policies also stands out, a pretext to reflect bitterly on the current climate of war and on the position of Premier Meloni, urged to take a clearer stance against global barbarism. Despite the forays into the past with the return of the historic hosts Ezio Greggio and Enzo Iacchettiagain in a tuxedo for the occasion, the program’s gaze remains turned towards the future and the latest news.
