In its annual report, the organization relied on official government figures. He also analyzed all the income of the French, ranging from the RSA to the highest salaries of billionaires, using data from INSEE and the Ministry of Solidarity.
There is thus the wealthy class who receive between 3,119 and 4,293 euros net per month. Then the middle class, between 1,683 and 3,119 euros. As for the working class, their income is generally between 1,100 and 1,683 euros; as a reminder, the amount of the net monthly minimum wage is currently 1,426.30 euros. Finally, below 1,100 euros, the person is considered to belong to the category of poor people. In France, the Observatory estimates that there would be “5.4 million poor people if we set the poverty line at 50% of the median standard of living.”
But then at what monthly salary are we rich in France? To do this, you must earn a net monthly income of at least 4,293 euros, after taxes and social benefits. This marks the threshold from which a person is considered rich and belongs to the 5% of French people who have a high salary.
Even among people whose income exceeds the wealth threshold of 4,293 euros per month, there are large differences. For example, when you exceed the tidy sum of 7,512 euros net per month, you then enter the very restricted circle of the 1% of the richest French people, a category in which the boss of LVMH, Bernard Arnault, finds himself, for example.
However, you don’t need to be a doctor, lawyer or business owner to earn a good living.
