A simple outfit can become ultra elegant with a few well-chosen details. The proof with the Belgian queen.

Philippe and Mathilde of Belgium, accompanied by their youngest daughter, Princess Éléonore of Belgium, traveled to Milan for the Winter Olympics. The Queen of the Belgians opted for a simple and very chic outfit, putting France in the spotlight.

Like Prince Albert II and Charlene of Monaco, who arrived a few days before them, the King and Queen of Belgium attended the Milan-Cortina events. To support a Belgian athlete during the speed skating competition, the couple abandoned the royal regalia in favor of more relaxed silhouettes, without losing anything in elegance. Mathilde chose an ensemble playing on two shades, beige and blue. She wore a turtleneck sweater, to counter the Italian cold, under a camel jacket by Polo Ralph Lauren. At the bottom, she opted for plain blue jeans, combined with fur-trimmed suede ankle boots from the Scapa brand.

When it comes to accessories, the seventh queen of the Belgians left nothing to chance. It’s hard to miss her shoulder bag, a smooth calfskin model by Giorgio Armani. We notice its midnight blue color, matching the pants, and its teardrop-shaped turnstile clasp, in light gold metal, both chic and practical. With her Rolex watch and her Gucci sunglasses, Mathilde, 53, also chose a French jewel. She wore Sézane’s “Gabrielle” earrings, in gold-plated brass and coffee-colored resin, priced at 25 euros. Faithful to the Parisian brand founded in 2013, which she regularly wears, the former speech therapist offers her new visibility.

In the stands, alongside Princess Éléonore, the message is clear: full support for Belgian athletes and elegance controlled down to the details. In Milan, Mathilde demonstrates that a well-designed wardrobe can have as much impact as a gala outfit.
