“When I think of God my heart is so full of joy that the notes flow out of me like a fountain”, wrote Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), excellent composer, author of a masterpiece, “The Creation” (Die Schöpfung),
which recounts the birth of the world as a sonic miracle.
Composed in 1798, the grandiose Oratorio represents for Haydn the culmination of a placid and joyful religious feeling. The story unfolds in three parts: from the mysterious darkness of the initial Chaos (rendered with great harmonious modernity for the time), the public will see the light rise, up to the love song of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
The performance of this masterpiece of sacred music of all time sees the return of Musical Director Daniel Harding to the podium of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
On Thursday 26 and Friday 27 February at 8pm, and Saturday 28 February at 6pm, Harding will conduct the Orchestra and Choir of Santa Cecilia and a trio of soloists formed by the soprano Katharina Konradifrom the tenor Joshua Ellicott and from below Michael Nagy.
A meeting with the communicator is also scheduled for Friday 27 February at 6.30 pm Giovanni Biettiwithin the Spirito Classico cycle, to delve deeper into the piece on the programme. An opportunity to approach music with a new taste and to discover the history and context in which the great masterpieces saw the light. The conference takes place in Spazio Risonanze and is preceded by an aperitif.
