It happens that couples, as soon as they get married, file for divorce a few months, or even a few days later. A bride who discovers, after having said “Yes !“that his husband cheats on him, a couple who finally renounces their commitment by realizing that they are ultimately not made for each other… On Tiktok, the lawyer Maître Toledano recounts the shortest marriage he has seen during his career, and it only lasted a few hours. “A client calls me and says “I need to see you quickly, I would like a divorce” he says.
The reason surprised him as much as the short duration of the marriage. “There’s something in my throat.” explains the young woman. When she was still wearing her wedding dress and leaving the town hall, she simply tripped, but her husband’s reaction made her change her mind about marriage. “You understand, my husband, instead of coming to help me, he laughed, he made fun of me, and that really doesn’t work, I can’t stay married to someone like that“. The young woman who got married that same morning therefore began the process only four hours later to end the marriage.
“She was probably the client who asked me for divorce the quickest I had ever had in 27 years of practice.” testifies Master Toledano. He also explains that even if the marriage took place on the same day, the couple must go through divorce proceedings. A marriage can be annulled only if there is “a reason, a formal defect, that it is not the right person…”
