He rocked our childhood… and that of our grandparents. This character, as identifiable as he is endearing, is the trend today.
For several seasons, childhood memories have permeated the fashion world. Indeed, geopolitical instability and economic recession push adults to take refuge in the imaginations of yesteryear, such as comforters, toys, board games or even the cartoons that rocked their young years. Bottega Veneta, Jean Paul Gaultier, Miu Miu : even the fashion houses have dabbled in it.
Lately, Undiza ready-to-wear brand adored by Gen Z, has decided to resurrect a character that we haven’t seen for a long time. Born in the 1930s, this hero of children’s literature stems from the talent of a couple of French creatives: the Brunhoffs. A storyteller, it is to Cécile de Brunhoff that we owe the story that will delight thousands of children around the world, all generations combined. Basically, however, this story is not supposed to escape the four walls of the bedroom of his offspring, Mathieu and Laurent. It is rumored that the mother of the family invents this tailor-made tale to put them to sleep at bedtime. With a masterful hand, Jean de Brunhoff, painter, then brings to life the narrative ideas of his dear and tender one. And that’s it Babar discovers the world of humans in a first album published in 1931.
The little elephant with the well-tailored costume and proudly worn crown will touch our grandparents, our parents before touching us. If the last album dates from 2019 (“Babar, Les vacances de Zéphir”), it continues to exist in the life of minis in magazines published each month by Bayard Jeunesse. As for the conquered, they can dive back into their memories thanks to the clothes created by Undiz.

Today, little ones’ favorite character is changing platforms of expression and leaving the pages of books to invest in the textile industry. In a lounge collection entirely dedicated to this hero of children’s literature, the cute animal is available in comfortable and basic wardrobe pieces, perfect for all moments of life – wandering around the city or wrapped up in bed.
White printed T-shirt Babar with navy blue neckline, iconic long-sleeved sailor top, all with matching shorts, of course. Prices range from 12.99 euros to 22.99 euros. Nostalgia has not finished winning over fashion.
