This evening (8.30 pm) the curtain rises on the preview of Biblical Festival 2026in an exceptional location like the municipal theater of Vicenza. The city will return to be the protagonist of the Festival between 14 and 24 May, but tonight’s event is absolutely unmissable, as the city will have the opportunity to celebrate a character who inspired us all: Sammy Basso. The young activist and tireless science communicator suffering from progeria, who sadly passed away in 2024, is a symbol of resilience and a source of inspiration for the city that gave him birth.
Tonight’s event is completely dedicated to him, and it will be an opportunity to tell unpublished stories about Sammy, many of which are collected in book «Sammy. A life to embrace”.

The book volume, published by San Paolo Edizioni, was written by mother Laura Lucchin and father Amerigo Bassowith precious help by Famiglia Cristiana journalist Chiara Pelizzoni. It appears as a mosaic of voices from relatives and close friends, as well as anecdotes provided by those who collaborated with Sammy on a working level. Thanks to these testimonies it will be possible to appreciate even more the tenacity and pride with which Sammy lived his life, giving an example to all those who become aware of his story.
The book is then embellished with a touching preface by Jovanotti, a close friend of the young biologist. The evening will pass quickly through memories, video messages and reflections, also thanks to the participation of guests such as Sammy’s parents and the “Pearl Merchants”, a Christian rock band from Vicenza.
Entrance is free, but reservations are required, which can be made here.

The 22nd Biblical Festival will then officially begin on April 9th in Genoa, where for eight days, until April 16th, meetings, dialogues and cultural moments dedicated to the theme “The power of limits” will be held. The event will develop as a widespread event touching a total of ten Italian cities: after the Ligurian opening, the Festival will stop in Alba from 27 to 30 April and in Rovigo and province for two weeks, from 27 April to 10 May. From 7 to 10 May the exhibition will involve simultaneously Verona, Catania and Conegliano, before continuing to Padua and province from 14 to 17 May. In conjunction with the stage of Vicenza and province (May 14-24), the calendar will also touch Treviso from May 20th to 24th, finally concluding its journey in Chioggia, where the events will close the 2026 edition from 28 May to 1 June.
