In an Italy where the birth rate is constantly declining and becoming parents represents an increasingly complex choice, “La Dolce Attesa” tells the story of those who decide to have children anyway, facing deeply contemporary desires, fears, difficulties and hopes every day. Every week, the program enters the homes of two couples to tell what it means to become parents, between waiting and daily life.
Led by Carolina Rey, families share intimate moments, from the wish list for the new arrival to the “Mam Talk”, a light but real moment, in which parents share emotions, doubts and the little big challenges of their daily lives.
During the appointment, there is also space for daily care, made up of small gestures of attention and cuddles that accompany the journey of growth. To complete the story, a sociologist and a demographer who offer ideas for understanding the context of birth rates in Italy.
Carolina Rey is also Filippo’s mother and knows what it means to embark on a parenting journey alongside work: «After his birth, many opportunities arrived, many beautiful projects. And the fact that he was there was always a huge motivation. An extra push to do things well, with even more energy. It was also a point of balance. Why when you come home and find your child running towards you, hugging you, kissing you… everything else loses importance. It scales you down. It really makes you understand what the priorities are.”
