Alain Souchon and his sons have just completed a two-year tour together. If today the trio is in symbiosis, the fame of their father has not always been easy to live with for Pierre and Charles…
150 is the number of concerts that the Souchon have given together over the last two years. After long months spent with family on the road, Alain Souchon and his two sons, Pierre and Charles, known as Ours, say goodbye. At least, on stage…
Alain Souchon “gets along well” with his sons: “It’s been nothing but pleasant”
The opportunity for the head of the family, Alain Souchon, to open up about his “two guys” in the columns of Parisian. “We get along well. It’s not easy, normally, between father and son. We can get annoyed”the popular 81-year-old singer quickly made known. Before confiding, with a smile on his lips: “But here, it’s only been pleasant. The next tours, if I’m not dead, I would love to do them with my two guys”.
However, the interpreter of Sentimental crowdwho would be ready to settle in Switzerland, has long hoped that his two offspring would not follow in his footsteps. “I said to myself: ‘I hope they don’t do that. Let them get good studies, let them be architects’he admitted. Before getting ironic: “But I could see that it wasn’t going well from an architectural point of view”.
Alain Souchon’s sons, annoyed by their father’s notoriety? “Of course it is…”
Asked by our colleagues about the atmosphere at home, the eldest son of the Souchon clan, Pierre, said that his father did not “did not mix family and work”. “When he came back from a tour, a work session or a film shoot, he didn’t want to talk about it. So as not to let it pollute us. We were even afraid to ask him, we knew it irritated him. There isn’t a guitar, a gold record or an award in the house or in his office”he added.
Never mind that he and his brother have caught musical fever: “We were very attracted to that, perhaps also because there was this mystery around (…) It’s like the Pinder family, I imagine. When you’re born into it, you want to do the circus more than go to work at Axa Assurances!”.
But was their father’s notoriety difficult to cope with for Alain Souchon’s sons? The 81-year-old singer responded straight away: “Of course it’s heavy for them! You’re immediately schematized. But that’s how it is, we can’t fight”. To which his son replied: “I sang but I understood over time that perhaps that wasn’t my place, at the front. Making songs for others, a little hidden, and at the same time making a living from it, it’s perfect”.
