The project is taking shape: this new means of transport, already in place in other cities, such as Grenoble, Toulouse and Brest, will be inaugurated for the first time in Ile-de-France.
Modes of transport are constantly evolving to allow the French to travel more easily while respecting the environment. Last June, line 14 was expanded with seven new stations allowing residents of Val-de-Marne and Essonne to reach Orly airport more easily. Favoring public transport over cars: this is the objective of France Mobilités, which is preparing to inaugurate a brand new means of transport in Ile-de-France.
If this mode of transport has already been installed in several cities in France such as Toulouse, Grenoble and Brest, it will be the very first to be set up in Ile-de-France. And it is in Val-de-Marne that the project is taking shape. Thus, the cities of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Limeil-Brévannes and Valenton, located in the 94, will be directly connected to the Metro line 8: Créteil-Pointe du Lac. This attractive and innovative mode of transport is none other than an urban cable car.
After laying 3,600 metres of cables and installing almost all of the pylons, the roof was laid. “In a few months, this roof will be completely planted and covered with sedum, geraniums and savory.”specifies Île-de-France Mobilités in a press release dated July 29.
And to connect the two termini (Villeneuve-Saint-Georges and Créteil), it will take 18 minutes. As for the installation of this first urban cable car in Ile-de-France, we will have to wait until next year: “The first cable car in Île-de-France will complete the transport offering of the Île-de-France network by 2025“, specifies France Mobilités.
