The purpose Dominique Coutière is a boss as atypical as he is essential in his Landes department. After his studies in Paris, this Centrale graduate of modest origins returned home to create Biolandes, a company that has become one of the main manufacturers of raw materials for perfumery and cosmetics thanks in particular to an exclusive distillation process. In 2014, he agreed to participate in a round table to save the Gascogne group, the largest private employer in the department, from liquidation. At over 70 years old, the entrepreneur who still prefers a checked shirt to a suit has remained faithful to his youthful socialist ideals. Viscerally attached to his Landes region and close to the former socialist leader Henri Emmanuelli, who led the department for two decades, he has also led a career as a local elected official for thirty years as mayor and departmental councilor.
