Back to school also means going back to the office… But what does the ideal work colleague look like? Here are the qualities most sought after in employees!
There is the introvert, the leader, the extrovert, the resourceful… in a company, the profiles of employees are varied and fortunately so. But with whom is daily life at the office the most pleasant? Certain qualities are particularly appreciated.
The site specializing in the world of work, Hellowork, unveiled the results of its major survey on August 29, on employee relationships within the company. While you may not necessarily be friends with your work colleagues, for nearly 90% of respondents, getting along with colleagues is crucial for personal development. And the leading French employment and recruitment platform goes further and reveals the qualities that are particularly appreciated.
Hellowork put several different qualities to the vote: open-mindedness, humor, patience, empathy, honesty and team spirit… And, bingo, honesty came out on top as the most important qualities for people to work with on a daily basis.69% of employees prefer to receive regular and spontaneous feedback from their colleagues rather than feedback only when they ask for it“, the experts point out. Reliability and positivity come in tied for second place in the ranking, and empathy comes in last place on the podium.
On the contrary, open-mindedness is the least important quality for employees… Surprising, especially with regard to generation Z, which places great importance on the representation and respect of minorities, whether LGBT+, migrants or the disabled, and which wants to be woke on these subjects. A generation, however, very critical and distant towards the world of work as it is today in France.
Professional relationships that remain strictly… professional. More than one in two employees want to keep their relationships purely professional and never see their colleagues outside of work to engage in activities like going to the movies or having a drink, and 83% of respondents prefer to work with a competent colleague even if they don’t have any affinities with each other. The proof is in the pudding: more than one in two employees do not add their work colleagues to their social networks – regardless of their qualities!
