Two words have been enough to create a buzz in Silicon Valley in recent days: “founder mode”. Meaning: the management methods of start-up founders. Above all, they did not come out of just anyone’s mouth. It was Paul Graham, the co-founder of the famous American incubator Y Combinator, who published a short essay last weekend on this new concept – opposed to “manager mode” – which is not really one.
Without providing a toolbox, he puts his finger on one of the major difficulties that a founder encounters during his entrepreneurial adventure, namely his ability to scale his start-up, while maintaining his agility so as not to end up like a large group burdened with processes.
