– How to apply for a college scholarship?
What is the college scholarship?
Financial aid for students enrolled in public or private colleges or at the CNED
The college scholarship is financial aid granted to families whose income does not exceed a certain ceiling. It is awarded for one school year to the person responsible for a child enrolled in a public or private college or at the CNED.
Assistance provided to the child’s guardian
Those considered responsible for a middle school student are those who have effective and permanent responsibility for them. They must provide financial support for the child. That is, provide food, housing and clothing. Both parents or one of them, grandparents, guardians, etc. are entitled to apply for a middle school scholarship.
Please note : the legal guardians of a high school student can apply for a high school scholarship.
What are the conditions for awarding the college scholarship?
Conditions to benefit from it
Only students enrolled in secondary school are concerned. The request is made by their parents or legal representatives who have effective and permanent responsibility for them and whose income does not exceed a certain amount.
Conditions for stopping the payment of the scholarship
The loss of responsibility for a child by one of his parents during the year results in the withdrawal of the scholarship payment in his favor. A new study of the scholarship application is carried out for the benefit of the new person responsible for the child. Unjustified and repeated absences of the college student beyond fifteen days may result in a deduction from the annual amount of the scholarship. It is up to the principal of the college to make this decision.
Simulator to test your eligibility for the scholarship
The government is providing families with an online simulator to test their eligibility. Simply indicate:
- the number of minor or disabled children
- the number of unmarried adult children
- the reference tax income
At the end of the simulation, the parent obtains the estimated annual amount of the college scholarship.
