Mega-acquisition in the telecoms sector in the United States. The giant of the sector Verizon announced, this Thursday, its intention to acquire Frontier Communications, a specialist in optical fiber, as part of a transaction worth 20 billion dollars.
The operator’s goal: to expand its high-speed Internet network. And to do this, it didn’t hesitate to get out the checkbook by offering $38.50 per share, or $9.6 billion in cash, and a premium of more than 37% compared to Tuesday night’s price on Wall Street, before the first rumors leaked. The total valuation of the operation includes the debt, estimated at $11.25 billion.
