The purpose Society is “in pieces”, France is “archipelagoized”, politics is disintegrated, the city is fractured… how can we find the links of reconciliation? How can we find a collective, compromise, and ultimately democracy and the Republic? Given the current events, their violence, their hatred, their radicalization, everyone will agree that nothing is more urgent. Robert Zarader, founder of the Bona fidé agency, and its authors know that there is no easy answer or divine savior.
He only has the debate, the reflection, the nuance and the modesty that must be put back in place of our oppositions. They try it in an ABC, not far from the breviary, which takes us on a journey from the “yellow vests”, to the ZAD, from 49.3 to Parcoursup with a rule, humor, and a method, recognition, as François Hollande asks, who prefaces the work.
This method is outlined from A to Z: recognizing the truth, which is no small thing in the era of post-truth; recognizing representative democracy as the best that remains; recognizing that the French are fed up with sterile radicalism; recognizing that the narcissistic “I” is “on board” (Pascal) with the others. Finally, recognizing, as the Olympic Games have demonstrated, that the center of France is located at Place de la Concorde.
The quote “The growing radicalism of the field echoes that of public debate. Rational exchange, discussion, the peaceful confrontation of points of view are suffocated by publicity stunts, punchlines, clashes, buzz and sometimes insults (…) public opinion expects much more that we tackle the problems at the root than a hyper-conflict in the media and politics.”
