There’s no need to travel to the other side of the world for your honeymoon. A study has just revealed the ranking of the most popular destinations for newlyweds, and two European countries are in the top 3.
Honeymooning has come a long way. While couples used to choose to go away almost immediately after the wedding, that’s not really the case anymore. Most newlyweds wait for the right season, and after organizing the reception, they prefer to take a breather and take the time to plan their dream trip, while saving money. Some couples also choose short periods of time to get away for a weekend rather than a one- or two-week stay. And according to a study conducted in the United States by Journo Research, the most distant destinations are not necessarily the most popular.
By analyzing searches typed on Google with the keyword “honeymoon” and tourist locations, a ranking of the favorite destinations of newlyweds was established. We still find, in first position, Hawaii, with an average of more than 12,000 searches. The heavenly beaches, lush nature and volcanoes make it a leading honeymoon destination. As for the Maldives, Bali or the Caribbean, these tourist locations come after two European countries. Indeed, Greece and its islands are in second position in the ranking, with more than 8,000 clicks per month, and Italy is in third position, tied with Bora Bora. La dolce Vità attracts lovers, especially on the Amalfi Coast. Other places located in Italy are particularly popular for their romantic and chic side, such as Tuscany, Venice, Lake Como or Puglia.
“Whether it’s the beautiful beaches of Hawaii, the cultural richness of Greece and Italy or the secluded luxury of Bora Bora, these findings provide valuable insights for both travel agents and couples independently planning their honeymoon,” commented jewelry brand Mark Broumand, for whom the study was conducted.
