On some wedding dresses, buttons can be sewn along the entire length of the back. And to button all this up, you’re going to need help and a lot of patience. But this little tip will save you precious time on the big day.
Wedding dresses are often imagined, sometimes created and designed, but at this stage of the making, we don’t really think about the practical side of wearing the outfit on the big day. In fact, the preparation of the young bride is quite timed: between makeup, hair, dressing and taking photos, everything needs to be organized and well planned. Also, the slightest saving of time is welcome.
But when the model has buttons as a closure, brides need the help of their best friend, their mother or the bridesmaid to put on their dress and button everything. On some models, these buttons are sewn along the entire length, in the back, which adds a lot of charm to the immaculate dress, but which makes the task more difficult. And it also takes a lot of time! So, if you’re getting married soon or are planning to help a bride-to-be get dressed, this little tip could be very useful to you!
Rather than trying to fasten each button by hand, one by one, use a simple bobby pin. As in the video at the top of the article, all you have to do is hold the pliers on the peak side and slide it inside the button (sewing side). So when you take it out, grab the pearl button with the head of the pin. All you have to do is remove the pliers in a very simple way, with a small movement to the side. A very practical wedding tip that only takes a second! And if you don’t have a bobby pin on hand, you can also try this technique with a paper clip.
Finally, if your wedding dress does not have buttons, but a zipper and you need to close your outfit alone, the best known trick is to use a ribbon or a lace in the small hole in the zipper. By passing the ribbon over your shoulder, you will only have to pull forward. The ideal is still to organize yourself in advance so that you always have someone near you who can help you get dressed, and don’t forget to also bring a hair clip!
