If she sang again at the Paris Olympics then at the Elie Saab fashion show in Riyadh, nothing is yet certain about a concrete return to the stage for Celine Dion. A relative takes stock of her current state and gives some juicy information…
Celine Dion was left curled up, unable to move, in tears in a suffocating scene from her documentary I Am: Celine Dion, on Amazon Prime Video. Then, we finally found the Quebec diva a few months later at the top of the Eiffel Tower, treating herself to a come back triumphant at the Olympic Games. Subsequently, she multiplied the small appearances to the point that the rumor machine went into overdrive: an expected concert at the Stade de France, a record in French with Jean-Jacques Goldman and another in English, a return to the stage at Las Vegas… Don’t throw it away! A relative takes stock.
How is Celine Dion really doing?
It was the director of the documentary, Irene Taylor, who broke the silence in an interview with the newspaper The Parisian. And the latter, who has forged strong links with Céline Dion – “I think I can say today that we are friends. We call each other regularly“-, dampened some fans’ hopes.”Céline’s voice has changed enormously and she wonders if her audience is ready to hear the new Céline. She’s in the studio regularly, but I don’t know what will come out of it. Céline can no longer push her voice without putting her life in danger, but paradoxically, it is singing that keeps her alive“, she confided.
We are therefore still far from hearing Céline Dion on Goldman’s new songs! The 56-year-old diva, who had confided to Vogue having to undergo therapy five days a week to combat stiff man syndrome, would like to turn to Acadian music according to Irene Taylor. “Much of this music does not require high, loud notes that come from deep in the chest. When Céline sings this style of music, it’s absolutely magnificent.”
Celine Dion, back on stage?
While a bombastic rumor reported a future upcoming concert by Céline Dion at the Stade de France, everything suggests that nothing could be further from the truth. If there is a return to the stage, it will first take place at Resorts Worldfrom Las Vegas. It was with this new hotel-casino on the Strip that she signed a contract for a permanent residence before illness took her away. Since then, it has reportedly started new negotiations and the American version of The Sun revealed this summer that “Celine Dion has been rehearsing with her musicians and the help of vocal therapists for the past 8 months.”
And what does Irene Taylor say about it? “You know, Céline continues to progress every day, but holding an entire concert seems premature to me. She dreams of it and I wish it for her, but above all she must take care of herself. If it happens again, it probably won’t be with the same directory. She admitted that she could no longer put on a show like she did in the past.”
